Playboy Mansion sold for $100 million to next-door neighbour, Daren Metropoulos

Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion officially has a new owner: Daren Metropoulos, 33-year-old principal at private-equity firm Metropoulos & Co and co-owner of Hostess Brands.

The iconic home to countless legendary Hollywood parties and fantasies was originally put on the market for $200 million but sold for half that, according to a press release.

Built in 1927, the five-acre property features 20,000 square feet of living space, an infamous swimming grotto and one very unique feature: an official zoo license.

Since 1971, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has presided over the place and used it as both his home and office. It’s the most expensive recorded home sale in Los Angeles County history.

Hefner bought it back in 1971 for a mere $1.1 million. He added a heated swimming pool and a grotto in the 1970s.

Hefner, 90, will remain at the house for the duration of his lifetime, a spokesperson for Metropoulos confirmed to TIME. Metropoulos owns the adjacent property and intends to connect the two estate "at some point after Mr Hefner's tenancy ends."

"I feel fortunate and privileged to now own a one-of-a-kind piece of history and art," Metropoulos said of the sale. "I look forward to eventually rejoining the two estates and enjoying this beautiful property as my private residence for years to come."

Ogun state trader arrested for naming pet dog ‘Buhari’

A 30-year-old trader named Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, has been arrested by the Ogun state police command for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari'. This was after after one of his neighbours, a man from Northern Nigeria, filed a complaint that Joe named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari. According to Vanguard, after the complaint was made at Sango Police Station, the trader was arrested, detained and would reportedly be arraigned in court today.

Efforts by the police to recover the dog, which they intended using as evidence failed. The trader, allegedly instructed his friends to secretly to kill the dog. Now, appeals by his friends and relations for the police to grant him bail failed as the complainant and his kinsmen reportedly threatened to kill the trader if he was released on bail.

A relation to the suspect expressed fears that he may either be poisoned inside a police cell or thrown into jail. According to the person, “Chinakwe is a lover of dogs and he names them after things that tickle him. He bought this dog a year ago and named it Buhari.  Unfortunately, some Northerners, who dominate the vicinity where he resides misconstrued his intention and connived to take him up. The complainant then claimed it was derogatory because his father answers Buhari.”

The acting Police spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, ASP, stated that indeed Joe bought a dog, but he inscribed Buhari on both sides of the dog's body and paraded the dog around the area.

"One Mallam lodged a complaint and when our men got there, we found out that it was true. You know such thing can cause serious breach of the peace and ethnic or religious unrest. We are charging him to court for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

#RIO2016: Amy Tinkler becomes youngest British athlete to win at the Olympics at age 16

Great Britain's 16 year old Amy Tinkler is now Britain's youngest athlete to win a medal at the Olympics in 32 years, after she won Bronze at the women's floor exercise event on Tuesday. It is an astonishing rise for the teenager who just last month sat in a school hall to take her GCSE exams and will collect her results on the day she returns from Brazil.  Holding back tears after her win, she said:

'I can't believe it. I knew I was Team GB's youngest athlete but this is crazy and I'm still in shock at the minute. 'It was a bit nerve-wracking watching the other athletes and knowing you are so close to a medal but I would have been happy with wherever I was place.'  'I went out there and did my best and enjoyed it so whatever the result, I would have been happy. I really am speechless.
'I put no pressure on myself and neither did my coaches. They just told me I had nothing to lose and to go out and enjoy it. I had made the floor final at the Olympics and deserved to be in it so I enjoyed it. 'As soon as I finished my routine, I knew I couldn't do any better. 'It has been an incredible week for British gymnastics. Hopefully there is a lot more to come from me and you will see me back out here in 2020.'

OAP Freeze gives his take on Jhene Aiko's marriage troubles

Singer Jhene Aiko received backlash from some social media users for flaunting her relationship with Big Sean and filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Dot Da Genius. OAP Freeze read people's reactions and gave his opinion about the hypocrisy. Read his post after the cut...

The ‘volatile’ social media of 2016, allows victims to be torn apart by people, who oftimes are in worse off situations themselves. I watched with utter amazement, as a 44 year old spinster, tore Jhene to shreds over her cheating allegations/divorce, calling her all sorts of unprintable names. Because of this social media, that gives every Tom, Dick and Harry a microphone, a 44 year old woman, who has never been married and has no children can condemn another woman’s choice?
The first question on my mind was “Madam, how come you are not married at 44?” but fear no let me, as it was obvious that the poor mare needed an outlet to vent her frustration.
When Jhene started trending, I read tweets with awe, people who had little or no access to the real information, out of the blues became ‘professors of Jhene’, earning their PHDs and masters degrees on the subject, after spending all of 5 minutes digesting the story on TMZ. Some others who weren’t afforded the education TMZ gave, as their data plans were limited, relied solely on Facebook and Twitter, for their ONDs and HNDs on the subject.
I respect Jhene for deciding to end a ‘fungating’ relationship. There are a few reasons why a woman would cheat, the worst being that her heart is no longer in the relationship. Should she have stayed and continued cheating on Mr Dot, or moved on? Some suggested that she should have stayed and fixed her marriage, despite allegations of violence..
Hmmm like that gentleman in ibadan who went home to try to fix his marriage after he was stabbed once? The poor guy is in the grave yard, with the story more or less buried with him. Same thing with that pretty lagos banker, who died with her children right there in the house, trying to fix her marriage. This year alone I have come across 4 or 5 of such stories, and wonder when, if at all, people are going to learn.
In the western world, they are not burdened with the responsibility we have, of pretending all is well on the home front, while we slide in and out of DMs and hotel rooms, yet ‘forming’ self righteous.
Also, they do not enjoy the luxury of having some confused men of God, who are more worried about a couple going for deliverance if they engage in daily sex, or whether a woman knows how to cook or not, instead of facing what Jesus called them to do, to contend with

RECIPE : Nigeria Pepper Soup

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-a8NArLLhkIw/U5BjexOsHVI/AAAAAAAADJs/JtbFBfXKG6M/s1600/Nigerian+Catfish+Peppersoup+fresh+fish+pepper+soup+point+and+kill+nigerian+peppersoup+3.JPG
Nigerian Catfish Pepper Soup (popularly known as Point & Kill) is that Nigerian pepper soup that is usually eaten at exclusive Nigerian bars and restaurants.

Even if you can get Nigerian Pepper Soup in any road side restaurant, you'll need to dig deep to find restaurants where you can have the correct Point & Kill.
So why is it called Point & Kill? LOL Usually when a group of guests arrive at these exclusive bars and order Catfish Pepper Soup, at least one of the group will need to go to a big bowl where some live catfish are swimming around and point out a catfish. The catfish will then be killed in the guest's presence and taken away for preparation. So you see; you point and it is killed for you! lol

Ingredients for Catfish Pepper Soup

  • 500g Cat Fish
  • 4 Ehu or Ariwo or Calabash Nutmeg seeds
  • Habanero Pepper or chilli pepper (to taste)
  • A few scent leaves
  • 2 medium onions
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 2 big stock cubes

Alternative Ingredients for Catfish Pepper Soup

  1. Conger Eel (Congrio in Spanish) is a good alternative to catfish. When buying the Conger Eel, ensure you buy the part towards the tail so that the fish cuts will not have big holes in them.
  2. Parsley is a good alternative to scent leaves.

Before you cook the Nigerian Catfish Pepper Soup

  1. To prepare Cat Fish Pepper Soup, wash and cut the cat fish into 1-inch thick slices. Boil some hot water and pour on the pieces of fish, stir and remove immediately. This toughens the skin of the fish so that it does not fall apart during cooking.
  2. Now it is time to prepare the 'secret' ingredient. Using an old frying pan, roast the Ehu seeds (stirring constantly) till you can smell it. Don't worry you will know when it is OK to take it off because it has a distinctive aroma. Another way to know that it is OK is to take one of the seeds and try to remove the outer membrane. If the membrane comes off easily, then the Ehu is done.
  3. Peel off the membrane from all the Ehu seeds and grind with a dry mill.
  4. Cut the onions into tiny pieces.
  5. Wash and pick the scent leaves and tear them up with your fingers into small pieces.

Cooking Directions

  1. Place the pieces of fish in a pot and pour water to just cover the fish, add the stock cubes and bring to the boil.
  2. Once it starts to boil add the ground ehu, onions and scent leaves and continue cooking.
  3. Once the catfish is done, add salt to taste and leave to simmer for about 5 minutes and it's ready!
Catfish Pepper Soup should always be served hot. It can be eaten alone with a chilled drink

Republicans Sign Letter Urging RNC To Stop Funding Donald Trump's Campaign

Lw
More than 70 frustrated Republicans including elected officials and staffers have signed an open letter urging RNC chairman Reince Preibus to stop funding Donald Trump's campaign.
As Trump continues to slip in the polls, the signatories are asking for the party to instead focus resources on maintaining the GOP's majority in the House and Senate.
The letter, obtained by Politico, says Trump's chances of winning in November are 'evaporating day by day' and that his 'recklessness' and 'incompetence' risks handing the election to Hillary Clinton by a landslide.
It lists a string of problems with Trump's campaign, including his many controversial remarks, his refusal to release tax returns and his claim that he may not uphold NATO treaty requirements.
'We believe that Donald Trump's divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide, and only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck,' says a draft form of the letter.
This should not be a difficult decision, as Donald Trump's chances of being elected president are evaporating by the day.'
It adds Trump's actions, such as attacking Gold Star families, praising dictators and calling on Russia to find Clinton's missing emails, have 'alienated millions of voters of all parties.'
Those recent outrages have built on his campaign of anger and exclusion, during which he has mocked and offended millions of voters, including the disabled, women, Muslims, immigrants, and minorities,' the letter says.

#RIO2016: Fiji declares public holiday after winning first ever Olympic medal

The tiny pacific nation of Fiji has won its first ever Olympic medal after thumping Great Britain 43-7 in the rugby sevens final to scoop the gold medal.

Wild celebrations erupted across the island nation as drivers leapt out of their cars and people took to the streets to wave the national flag, phone carriers offered free calls.  Fiji Airways, the national carrier, announced the only beer it will serve on today will be Fiji Gold, a popular local beverage; and the government declared August 22 a national holiday to mark the win.

According to The Fiji Times , staff at the main hospital reported that “patients used their crutches or wheelchairs to get to the television to ensure they do not miss history in the making”.

Present Prime Minister and former coup leader, Frank Bainimarama thanked the Olympic officials for including the sport in the competition for the first time.
“We can showcase little country like us who don’t have the financial backing like the other countries have, but we managed to beat them,” he said. It’s a wonderful feeling to be Fijian right now wherever you are in the world, especially those back home.”

Shops and schools in the nation of 900000 closed as citizens stayed glued to their televisions as the historic final unfolded.

Other Pacific nations say they too will celebrate the “magnificent and emphatic victory by a Pacific nation on the world stage”.
"Pacific Island nations may have the smallest teams competing in Rio, but Fiji has today proven they are mighty," said Colin Tukuitonga, director-general of the Pacific

'I haven't been paid for 5months, I've begged my boys up till this point, I've done my best & now I'm tired - Samson Siasia

Coach of Under 23 football team at Rio Olympics Samson Siasia has made a sensational and revealing rant at the NFF and Sports Ministry ahead of the quarter final clash against Denmark on Saturday.

The Bayelsa born coach made some startling revelations, saying he's been owed salary for five months and that he and his players have been disrespected by the Nigeria Football Federation and Sports Ministry all through out their Olympic journey.

According to Siasia, he has begged his players to carry on playing for the country up till this point but he is tired and that if the players decide to boycott the quarter final match against Denmark at Rio 2016, he'll support them.
“We have been disrespected from all angles – the sports ministry, the Nigeria Football Federation. Is that how you will treat your own children? We are not street kids,” former Super Eagles coach Siasia said on Brila FM Sports Radio on Friday morning.
“We have only been paid allowances for 11 days. There is no match bonus. What of all the months we have been training in Nigeria and Atlanta? That’s not fair. I have not received my salary for the past five months. Everything is upside down and the boys don’t want to play anymore. Whatever they want to do, I’m with them. They are right for fighting for their rights.”
Siasia continued: “The country already has a bad image, but through football it has got some good image, but still they won’t let us play.
“I have begged these boys, but I cannot do more than what I have done to get this team up to this point. I have done my best and now I am tired.”
The NFF in a statement denied ordering the players to return their Jerseys back to the NFF's office in Nigeria after the Olympics, but Siasia also slammed the report, saying they were ordered to return their kits.
”The NFF ordered that they bring back the jerseys (from Brazil). Siji Lagunju (of the NFF technical department) was directed to bring the jerseys back to the NFF.”

Michael Phelps breaks 2000 year old Olympic record

Michael Phelps has taken athletic achievement to Olympian heights by smashing a record that has remained untouched for two millennia.

The American won his 22nd gold medal today, 9 have come from relays while 13 are individual triumphs. The 31-year-old swimmer won his 13th gold medal in the 200metres men's event to surpass the 2000-year record set by Greek Olympian, Leonidas of Rhodes who won 12 individual gold medals.

Leonidas competed in four successive Olympiads in 164BC, 160BC, 156BC and 152BC and in each of these he won three different foot races.

An athlete who won three events at a single Olympics was known as a triastes, or tripler. There were only seven triastes and Leonidas is the only one known to have achieved the honour more than once.  there were no consolation prizes at the Olympics, no silver and bronze, you either won or lost.
He was 36 when he did it on the fourth occasion - five years older than Phelps is today

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson holds secret meeting with Vin Diesel to quash fast & Furious beef

Few days ago 'The rock' put up a post on Instagram where he slammed some of his Fast & Furious 8 male co-stars, labelling them as 'Candy Asses', but no one knew who he was referring to because he didn't mention names.

According to new reports from TMZ, the target of his wrath was co-star Vin Diesel. The former wrestler is believed to have taken aim at his fellow action star because the pair reportedly clashed several times during filming of the upcoming eighth movie after falling out over decisions made by Vin in his extra role as producer.

The website also revealed the pair met for crisis talks on the set of the film in Atlanta yesterday in a bid to bury the hatchet after Dwayne shared the post below on Instagram alongside a video of a fight scene from the movie.

Dwayne's outburst came just a week and a half before filming ends, it is reported that almost the entire cast of the movie is angry at Rock for causing a stir with his post. The TMZ report also suggests the feud sparked by his online rant meant tensions were running high onset.

It is not yet known if the talks were successful and if they pair managed to put the feud behind them.

Other male stars in the movie include Scott Eastwood and Jason Statham.

Fast 8 is set to be released in UK cinemas on 14 April 2017

#RIO2016: Michael Phelps extends his legacy as the greatest Olympian of all time with two more gold medals

Michael Phelps now has a total of 25 medals of which 21 are Gold medals after the American swimmer won Gold in the 200m butterfly and Gold in the 4x200-meter relay event on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro. Phelps, 31, comprehensively beat defending champion Chad le Clos in the 200m butterfly before he helped the US win the men's 4x200m freestyle relay.

“One of the things that is kind of sticking in my head more, that’s a lot of medals,” Phelps said to reporters. “We’ve got a lot of medals. It’s just insane. It’s mind-blowing, to think about. There wasn’t a shot in hell I was losing that tonight,” he continued.
“Doing a double like that is a lot harder now than what it once was, That is for sure.”

His lifelong coach, Bob Bowman had nothing but praise for Phelps, who he says has made a remarkable comeback in the space of four years, given that he has faced a personal crisis, retirement and comeback since London 2012.
“It’s remarkable,” Bob said. Given not just his age, but everything that’s transpired since London and before London — just the totality of it.”
Congrats to Phelps.
