Simon Mignolet may want to stay off
Twitter for a while following his efforts in Liverpool's Europa League
match against Bordeaux.
The Belgian international, who has, let's say, had a mixed career at Anfield, was at fault for the visitors' opener at Anfield this evening as the Reds went in search of qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
For reasons only he knows, Mignolet held on to the ball for what felt like an eternity but was actually about 20 seconds before hoofing the ball up field.
He was obviously penalised for time wasting by the referee who
awarded a free-kick to Liverpool's Ligue 1 opponents in the box. Then
this happened.
Oh dear. It took no more than 1.6 seconds for Liverpool fans to register their disgust with their goalkeeper, with some going as far as to suggest that his time on Merseyside was up. You can see the best of the reaction below, but be warned, some of the language is a tad fruity.
